Printer company Xerox has agreed a deal to purchase software maker Learn Something, enabling it to offer more to the food, drug and healthcare sectors.
No financial terms have been disclosed, but Learn Something will become a Xerox company and president and chief executive Steve Roden will remain in his current position.
Learn Something’s internet and computer-based training is provided to 85 per cent of all US retail pharmacy chains, while it also conducts over two million online learning events every year.
It began operations around ten years ago and helps pharmacy chains remain up-to-date with the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
Xerox’s technology has helped a number of firms expand their operations, including New Jersey, which is using the iGen 150 platform to develop cross-media marketing.
Metzgers Printing in Ohio is also taking advantage of the iGen4 technology, alongwith the Xerox Nuvera 144 machine.

Xerox’s digital colour technology is helping a number of companies to expand their products and services.
Commercial printing firm CRW, which is based in New Jersey, is using the company’s iGen 150 platform to produce cross-media marketing.
Mark Weiss, president of CRW, said: “Digital printing technologies – especially the iGen 150 – have opened up opportunities and markets for our business.”
Metzgers Printing in Ohio is also using the iGen4 technology, while the company has also capitalised on the Xerox Nuvera 144 to complete personalised letter mailings.
Joe Metzger, president of Metzgers, said: “The Nuvera’s black-and-white capabilities are an asset to our operations.”
He added that the system’s capability to print on offset projects creates a lower price per piece for clients who mail large volumes of documents.

Xerox is aiming to build on the growth it witnessed in 2012.
Speaking to ComputerWorld, executives of the ink specialist admitted that they aim to improve their 47 per cent growth performance, with the company aiming at widening its local market reach by introducing efficient strategies and programs.
Underlining the range of products offered by the company, Fuji Xerox country manager Candice Gino-Gino told the news provider that the business is the only one in the world today to offer laser, solid ink and self-scanning light emitting diode technology.
Despite the business' range of products, the company will need to battle tough competition from a host of other brands in the industry.
HP, Epson and Canon are among the businesses which are aiming to obtain a high market share.
Each of these are releasing new products this year and the battle for the consumer's money is sure to be as competitive as ever.

The Xerox WorkCentre 3325 has been praised by PC Advisor for its top-of the-range features.
The machine combines print, copy, scan, fax and email modes, meaning that customers have a lot of functions to benefit from.
Martyn Clayden from the website explained: "Print quality for text is universally clean and solid but as soon as you move to copies, graphics darken considerably and there's some evidence of banding. Scans, by contrast, are marginally paler and softer than the originals."
Mr Clayden added that ink costs are 1.94p per page, while there is also 2GB of on-board storage, which is useful for storing emails and faxes.
Last month, Xerox confirmed that its quarterly earnings were slightly above expectations.
Reuters reported the chief executive Ursula Burns as saying that 2012 was a "year of alignment", adding that it is now going through a "seismic shift".

Xerox has recorded quarterly earnings marginally above expectations as it carries out work to offer more varied technology.
Reuters has reported the toner cartridge specialist's chief executive Ursula Burns as saying that the company is undergoing a "seismic shift", adding that 2012 was a "year of alignment".
During 2012's fourth quarter, Xerox began a restructuring program on its services business.
Lynn Blodgett, who heads the services unit, told Reuters that progress has been made, but cost cutting still needs to be done.
"I am upbeat, I am very confident in the guidance we have. The environment hasn't changed that dramatically to make it that much better," Ms Blodgett explained.
She concluded that she is optimistic about the company meeting its targets.
In recent weeks, Xerox partnered with PrintWeek Media to release the third edition of The 1000 publication.
It lists the top 1000 print companies and will be sent out to an exclusive database of buyers of printing services, brand managers and key clients.

The 182-page collector's item will be sent out to an exclusive database of buyers of printing services, brand managers and key clients, with Suresh Ramakrishnan, publisher at Haymarket Media, claiming that the signs are positive for the ink industry in 2013.
"At PrintWeek India, we strive to make The 1000 as comprehensive as possible. The 1000 firms that are included in The 1000 have to adhere to the 5P test: printability, profitability, performance, progressiveness and popularity," the representative explained.
The 1000 promotes the fact that the "best of the best" is being put together, the spokesperson added.
This news comes after the University of Nottingham agreed a new deal with Xerox, which will see the university save 25 per cent on its annual printing costs.

The Xerox Phaser 3320 printer model has collected four stars in a review by PC Advisor.
Martyn Clayden from the website described the system as a "no-nonsense" business mono laser printer, offering good connectivity, high print speed and decent running costs.
Mr Clayden explained that the machine has a "reassuringly small" footprint and has a compact design.
"Two choices are available for the Xeroc 3320 toner cartridge – either a 5,000-page standard which will cost you 1.83p per page or the high capacity 11,000-page version which works out at an even more respectable 1.59p per page.
"These are attractive prices if running costs are important to your business," he noted.
Earlier this month, Xerox announced that it is in danger of missing its revenue target for the financial year commencing April 1st 2013.
Speaking to Bloomberg, the company's president Tadahito Yamamoto said business is slowing down in China, causing further worries along with a slowdown of investments from corporate clients in Western markets.

Fuji Xerox may miss its revenue target for the financial year commencing April 1st 2013.
This is the admission of the firm's president Tadahito Yamamoto, who has told Bloomberg that business is slowing down in China, providing further worries along with the slowdown of investment from corporate clients in western markets.
Fuji Xerox set a revenue estimate of 1.1 trillion yen (£7.8 billion) for 2013/14.
Mr Yamamoto explained to the news provider: "Even if we manage to achieve our earnings plan this fiscal year, it will still be quite hard for us to boost sales enough to reach target."
He added that the firm is yet to review its medium-term management goals.
Despite these worries, Xerox recently collected Keep America Beautiful's Vision for America award, after it took a leadership role in social and environmental stewardship and philanthropy.
This honour is presented every year to distinguished leaders of corporations, with Xerox being commended for lowering its energy use and printing waste by up to 30 per cent.

Printer company Xerox will extend its retail services portfolio by providing technical support for a number of McDonald's restaurants worldwide.
It has purchased Restaurant Technology Services from the fast food chain in an effort to rectify issues linked to point-of-sale equipment, kitchen video devices and credit card processing devices.
Kevin Kyser, chief operating officer of Xerox's IT outsourcing business, said: "Xerox's behind-the-scenes capabilities will make it possible for McDonald's and its independent owner-operators in several key markets to focus on their customers.
"With this acquisition, we're expanding our support for McDonald's globally while adding key retail services capabilities."
Dave Weick, chief information officer of McDonald's Corporation, claimed that the deal illustrates the restaurant's commitment to leverage Xerox's prowess to boost its restaurants.
Last month, Xerox won Keep America Beautiful's Vision for America Award, highlighting the role it has played in improving social and and environmental stewardship and philanthropy.
The accolade is presented every year and Xerox has been commended for decreasing energy use and printing waste by up to 30 per cent.
