Sharp has turned down a bid by Samsung to purchase its copier business.
The proposal would see Samsung invest 0 million in exchange for a three per cent stake, with the copier unit including photocopiers, printers and fax machines.
Speaking to Reuters, Sharp spokeswoman Miyuki Nakayama said: "We did get a proposal from Samsung, but we declined."
The representative would not disclose the exact amount Samsung offered, or the reasons for Sharp's refusal.
Sharp needs to repay a .1 billion (£1.4 billion) convertible bond due in September and selling the copier business would enable them to save cash, but diminish the business' workflow.
This news comes after Samsung claimed that it is aiming for B2B to make up a quarter of its overall business by 2020.
ZDNet has reported that Craig Gledhill, Samsung's vice president of enterprise and small and midsize businesses for New Zealand, Australia and Southeast Asia, believes the company's biggest opportunity for growth involves the mobile worker market.

The Samsung CLX-8385NX has been described as an interesting machine, with a reviewer commenting on the quality of its colour prints.
Sander Almekinders from Hardware.info explained that the quality of printouts from the system is what should be expected from laser systems, with printed text looking black and sharp.
"The colour prints looked great for a laser printer. We ran all of the tests on default settings, but with Samsung's software, which you can download from their site you can configure various settings," the reviewer noted.
The Samsung CLX-4195FW system was recently recommended by PCMag.com, which gave the machine a four out of five score. David Stone from the website said that the printer is a "more than attractive choice" for customers.
Mr Almekinders noted that energy consumption is an "important aspect" of printers, adding that inkjets generally use less power than laser and LED models.
He praised the machine's ink cartridges, explaining that a single cartridge can offer 20,000 pages.

Printer ink maker Samsung has added a new range of wireless printers to its home office and small business portfolio. According to pcmag.com, the firm has launched the single-function CLP-325W and the multi-function CLX-3185FW.
Both machines utilise Samsung's Polymerized Chemical Toner, which, the firm says, mean prints are higher-resolution, higher-gloss and more durable than documents produced using standard toner.
Print speed for both devices stands at up to 17 pages per minute (PPM) for black, four PPM for colour, and both feature one-touch wi-fi facilities - enabling users to print wirelessly with ease. The now standard, copy, scan, fax and print capabilities are also included, pcmag.com said.
Recently, Samsung announced the appointment of a new managed print services (MPS) sales manager, Gary Smith, to bolsters its UK print division. Mr Smith will drive sales of Samsung's MPs division in the UK and Ireland.

Printer ink supplier Samsung has launched three new monochrome laser printers.
The firm said its ML-1860, ML-1865 and ML-1865W devices offer users an "intuitive" printing experience thanks to the use of several one-touch features.
They also incorporate a number of environmentally-friendly tools, making them ideal for personal, home office and small office customers, Samsung said.
The ML-1860 and ML-1865 include the Samsung Print Screen button, which enables users to print out exactly what they see on their PC screen at the touch of a button – saving paper and toner.
Similarly, the ML-1865W is a wireless model that includes a one-touch setting to make the set-up of a wireless connection smooth and functional.
Users can also select, drag and drop specific content from webpages, transfer it to a blank webpage, then either save or print using Samsung's AnyWeb Print tool. This enables customers to print just what they really need, instead of printing several unnecessary documents.
"Samsung understands that consumers don't want to wait for their prints or waste paper and toner," said Anne-Marie McGarry, the firm's product marketing manager.
"That is why this range of easy to use one-touch devices not only allows consumers to easily print what they want, when they want, they can also save paper and toner."
Recently, Samsung announced that people who buy one of its Galaxy Tab devices before Christmas will receive with it an entertainment package worth £200.

Printer ink maker Samsung this week announced it would welcome two new managerial appointments for its UK print and display teams.
Dion Smith will join as general manager, print division, while Philip Gaut will come into the fold to head up the display division. Samsung said the new appointments cement its commitment to enhance the success of the three strings of its IT business, note PC, display, and print.
Mr Smith brings 20 years industry experience to the printer ink firm, and joins after holding leading senior roles across the world. His past work includes spells at Dell, where he had responsibility for sales, solutions and service, and at Hewlett Packard, where he developed its managed print services.
Mr Gaut joins from Acer, where he was head of peripherals and oversaw the firms TFT and projector sales. He has also worked at Sony and Canon. At Sony Mr Gaut held responsibility for projecting B2B Notebook and AV sales.

It may be the case that colour ink cartridges need to be installed in a printer, even if the user simply wants to print a black and white job using black ink.
Discussing the subject at Yahoo! Answers, printer user James states that he has a Samsung CLP-310N printer with four separate toner cartridges. Three colour ink cartridges are empty, the remaining one, with black ink, is full.
The printer user explains he simply wants to print a document that contains only black ink, but is stopped by a printer error message that explains the yellow printer cartridge is empty. Therefore the printer fails to print. Reasonably, James wanted to know why this should be the case.
Some feedback has helped to shed some light on the problem. Responding to the question, member Computer Tech suggests it may be the case that some printers in fact have an option to select black print only. The member suggested the way to alter this may be to look at the printer options under the settings menu of the printer. From there it may be possible to print only using black ink.
Epson's technical feedback recommends that a user has replacement ink cartridges stored away at all times so that they would never be without a functioning printer.

Toner cartridge users looking for a printer that will not take up much space may want to turn their attention to Samsung Electronics' new ML-1665, which the firm claims to be the world's smallest monochrome laser printer.
Boasting easy-to-use one-touch features aimed at offering users an intuitive printing experience, the printer is designed for small businesses, home offices, students or households in general.
Eco-friendly features have been incorporated in the printer, which also comes equipped with the Samsung ML 1665 Print Screen button that allows for quick and easy printing of exactly what is being seen on a PC screen at the touch of a button.
And because it is also compatible with Samsung's AnyWeb Print software, ink cartridge users can select, drag and drop specific content from web pages into a new blank page on their PCs and either save or print them.
Users can also enjoy print speeds of up to 16 pages-per-minute and see their first page pop out in less than 8.5 seconds.

Samsung's CLX-6240 provides users with a colour laser multifunction device that is capable of decent printer quality.
That is according to a new review by PC advisor, which stated that that toner cartridge laser printer comes with a "decent set of features" and plenty of memory, making it ideally suited to small offices.
As well as automatic duplex and an internal hard drive, Samsung's new printer also offers rapid print speeds and high-quality monochrome productions, although colour prints leave "something to be desired", the website stated.
The device boasts USB, Ethernet and RJ-11 fax port connections, as well as an additional USB port on the front which allows it to be easily connected to flash drives.
PC Advisor concluded: "The Samsung CLX-6240FX colour laser multifunction prints both monochrome and colour documents at a rate of 25 pages per minute, which is a decent result for its price."
Last month, US technology website PC World noted that the Xerox Phaser 7500DN features "idiot-proof" toner cartridges that help make the device simple to setup.

Despite its many advantages, Samsung's CLP-660ND suffers from poor print quality, one review has noted.
While it offers a cost-effective solution to small businesses, when it comes to print quality, the new Samsung CLP-660ND is some way behind its competitors.
That is the view of the Good Gear Guide reviewer, who believes that the newly-released product is let down by a lack of consistency in the printer ink quality department.
The CLP-660ND colour printer boasts USB and Ethernet ports as well as a 250-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet multiple purpose tray, making it ideal for most smaller firms.
In addition, its control panel, through which users can adjust graphics, colour registration and resolution, is also clear and easy to use.
However, the reviewer noted: "Even at the highest quality setting colour graphics are low resolution, causing inconsistent colours that ruin the overall look.
And, when it comes to printer ink cartridges, the website added that the average cost of an A4 print remains high even when using high-yield ink cartridges.
"This cost is slightly lower than cheaper laser printers, but is beaten by some inkjet multifunctions."
Just last month, the Korean company also released its ML-4551ND monochrome laser printer, which PC World noted "offers lightening fast printing without sacrificing quality".
