Students Setup Ink And Toner Cartridge Recycling Charity

Students at the University of Hertfordshire have launched a charity asking for firms to donate their ink and toner cartridges from office printers for recycling.

The Think Ink team was set-up by a group of final year students as part of an assignment in small business and entrepreneurship.

All firms need to do is put their used ink and toner cartridges in a collection box at their offices, which Think Ink will pick up and take back to the university's storage unit.

After this a recycling company will pick up the ink cartridges, paying a small fee for each donation. Money raised will then go towards Age UK's The Warmth Campaign, which aims to prevent winter deaths among elderly people.

Charlotte Gatehouse of Think Ink told Welwyn Hatfield Times: "The Think Ink team give businesses the opportunity to take part in a long term charity scheme which is easy, environmentally friendly and free."

Furthermore, the university's Raise and Give Society will be taking over the project in April.

Recently, ink and toner cartridge recycling has been part of a community project in Kent to fund repairs for the Herne Bay pier.
