Printer Ink Low Warning a Big Concern For Some

Being greeted with the message that their printer ink is on the verge of running out is one of the routine things that regularly worries one columnist.

Writing for the Providence Journal, Mark Patinkin notes that the phrase 'ink level low' on his printer is particularly scary because of the cost of replacing empty cartridges. Mr Patinkin was recently unexpectedly greeted with the message when he walked over to his printer to collect a document and more problems followed.

He revealed in his column: "As most people know by now, a new print cartridge costs almost as much as the printer. I don't know why. It's the equivalent of car tyres costing $30,000, or a new vacuum bag $100. Then something worse happened. I bought a new cartridge, but the printer didn't recognise it."

Mr Patinkin added that returning to work to find 273 unread emails and seeing a message from an alarm company on his mobile phone are other terrors that concern him. Looking into the cost of replacement ink cartridges could be one of the factors taken into account when a business goes in search of a new printer for its office.
