ISPs Ready For Olympic Games Traffic Says ISPA

The country's internet service providers (ISPs) are prepared for the additional traffic which will be witnessed during the upcoming Olympic Games, according to an expert.

It is expected that more users will go online to keep up-to-date with the progress of specific events, while companies might also allow their employees to work from home using cloud computing services so that they do not get caught up with transport problems in and around the capital or Olympic venues.

Trefor Davies, council member at ISPA UK and chief technology officer at Timico, said: "ISPs have put in a lot more bandwidth in place to be able to cope with the Olympic traffic. If they do have problems, then there is a solution in place to put in more bandwidth or manage the traffic. People have been thinking about this for a long time."

He added that the main issues from a business point of view will come if members of staff are using online streams in order to watch the Games while at work.

It was advised that staff are managed accordingly, and it could be worth investing in a single wall-mounted screen so that employees can enjoy the event.
