Focus on Reducing US Government's Printer and Ink Usage

An independent agency of the US government feels that a large amount of money can be saved by paying closer attention to the way that printers and their ink are used.

The Federal Times reports that the General Services Administration is looking to recoup approximately $300 million each year by being more financially savvy with the way the government purchase and uses printers, photocopiers and fax machines. Large numbers of staff still have access to their own personal printers rather than sending documents to a network device.

Meanwhile, a decent amount ofprinter ink and paper is generally suggested as being unnecessarily used.

According to the news provider, Dan Gordon, head of the Federal Procurement Policy at the Office of Management and Budget, feels that there are strong saving opportunities available in the area. He said: "There is enormous opportunity out there. I view this as an area ripe for future savings."
