Change Your Font if You Want to Cut Printer Ink Usage

Changing your font of choice may help you cut down on your printer ink usage, it has been claimed. According to softwareplaza.net, a new application, known as Ecofont, is available to help users reduce their ink usage by streamlining their fonts.

The app uses Verdana as its main font, but has a "slight twist", the website says. Each letter written via Ecofont has gaps of white space embedded within the letters themselves. This reduces by an average of 20 per cent the ink usage per letter.

These holes do not affect the quality of the printed output, either, although the website did note that after size 18 the gaps did become more visible. But below this point text is still easily readable.

Using the app equates to using 20 per cent less words when you write your sentences or getting rid of 20 per cent of a lengthy report.
