A high school in Orange County, California, is recycling used inkjet, laser ink and toner cartridges to get more money for school supplies.
San Juan Hills High School's Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) has so far collected $39 (£24.35) from recycling used ink cartridges, reported the Orange County Register.
Margie Tingle, president of the PTSA, said that they began using the cartridges to raise some extra cash for the school after she got the idea from her work with local groupthe Friends of Ladera Ranch Library, which has been raising money by recycling the used units for years.
She added: "Wouldn't it be wonderful if we got 100 turned in? Right now as you know many school districts ... are struggling. There is always a need for school supplies."
According to Ms Tingle, the group has received 38 used ink cartridge donations but are always on the lookout for more.
