Office Equipment Demand Recovery Could Be Years Away Fuji Xerox Says

Demand for printers and other office equipment could remain subdued until 2012, it has been suggested.

Japan's Fuji Xerox Co has claimed it could take a number of years before the world's requirements for office equipment return to pre-recession levels, Reuters reported.

Fuji Xerox is a joint venture between Fujifilm and Xerox that operates in the copier and printer sector, with the former holding a 75 per cent stake.

The company's president Tadahito Yamamoto said he was still "uncertain'" as to when a full recovery will take place, but it is unlikely to be in the short term.

"In Japan and the US and Europe it's still difficult to tell. I think it will take another two to three years," he explained.

Fuji Xerox was established in 1962 and primarily develops digital colour and monochrome multifunction printers for workplaces.

Its office printing devices include the DocuScan C3200 A, DocuPrint C3250 and DocuPrintc3050.

Around 70 per cent of all its colour laser printers shipped during the 2006 financial year headed to overseas markets.
