Ink Cartridge Status Monitor Cannot Save Brother DCP 165C Review Score
Software for a status program that monitors ink cartridge levels and quality control is not enough to make the Brother DCP-165C a recommended purchase, according to one review.
A review of the multi-function device by printer expert Justin Yu for cnet.com suggested that using Brother's new DCP-165C can be a frustrating experience.
"The counter-intuitive setup, bland design, deplorable print quality and crawling output speeds earn this printer a double thumbs down," he wrote.
While it comes with a relatively low price tag, the reviewer also noted that it does not include a USB cable out of the box.
Furthermore, Mr Yu said that the printer suffered from a series of hardware malfunctions during testing "and hiccups that left us shaking our heads in disdain".
Recently, the Brother MFC-68690CDW received a positive review from IT Pro who praised it for keeping costs down by using ink cartridges instead of toner.
