Compatibility Should Be Considered By Ink Cartridge Customers

Considering the compatibility of ink cartridges should be an important step before purchasing new ink or toner cartridges.

This is according to the If It Prints, I'll Let You Know blog, which says that a number of people do not realise that most ink cartridges differ in design, depending on the brand and model.

Customers should also consider the chip that is embedded into each cartridge, which enables its correct operation if installed into the correct printer model.

"Each cartridge is 'keyed' differently, so don't expect your Dell cartridge to work with your Lexmark," the blog notes.

"While the design may be similar, chances are that your computer won't recognise the cartridge."

Worse still, the blog adds, the wrong cartridge could end up damaging your printer, with the cost of fixing it likely to considerably more expensive than buying the correct cartridge.

Customers looking for cheap printer ink could consider generic ink cartridges, which tend to be cheaper than well-known brand names.
