In Praise of the Parker Pen

In Praise of the Parker Pen

The Parker 51 has been praised as a beacon of pen design. According to hotmake.info, the famous pen is recognisable all over the world and is now seen as one of the most popular pens ever made. The model was manufactured to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the US firm.

Over the years the "world's most wanted pen" has been gripped by many famous hands, including those of General MacCarthur, who reportedly signed Japanese surrender during World War Two. Illinois Institute of Technology voted it the fourth best industrial design of the 20th century.

The functional design of the pen made it popular. It had a tube-shaped nib and ink overflow could be easily caught.

According to the news provider, the 51 was made up until 1972. It was significantly altered in 1948 with the addition of a new filling system and a Parker 51 special edition was released to celebrate the model in 2002.

The Parker Pen Company was founded in 1888 by George Safford Parker.
