A Guide To Cleaning Your Cartridges

A printing cartridge website has offered some top tips on keeping ink cartridges clean and maintaining them for a smooth running system.

Using a solution of one-third alcohol to two-thirds water can be used to swab off dried ink on print heads, which can lead to the printer clogging and malfunctioning, according to the printerinkcartridges blog.

This mixture, known as an isopropyl solution can be used with a sponge or cotton swab in order to clean off accumulated ink residues around the head of the cartridge.

Also advised, should no alcohol be to hand, is using a clean cloth dampened with warm water.

Once the ink starts to leave streaks of black markings along the cloth, then the blockage has been cleared of dried ink and the cartridge is ready to use once again.

However, users are advised to only use clean materials to clean cartridges, as any additional dust or dirt can severely damage the mechanisms of the printer.
