The latest ink cartridges trend, 3D printers have been reported to be making a real stir in the latest Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to a report in Manufacturing Digital.

A report on the website suggests that real advancements made in rapid prototyping as well as in extrusion technology has meant that the products are now edging their way into the mainstream.

The products are also becoming much cheaper and more affordable to purchase, another reason why it is predicted the products will find their way into homes and offices across the world as opposed to just tempting technology experts.

Abe Reichental, president and chief executive officer at 3D Systems, told the website: "It's a real honour to be a finalist in this year's "Best of CES" awards.

“Our 3D cloud printing makes it easy to make it real, starting today, whether or not you own our Cube 3D printer.”
