Boost For Indian Ink Cartridges Market

The sale of ink cartridges in India are sure to have been boosted by the news that sales of printer, copier and multifunction machines has grown in the country by ten per cent.

According to research from analysis firm Gartner, the growth was recorded in the last three months of 2010 – with the combined segment market in India totalling over 680,000 units for the same period, Business Standard reports.

Of the big toner cartridges firms, Canon posted the most impressive results – recording a growth in market share of 20 per cent. Hewlett-Packard (HP), which leads the market with a 46 per cent share, only grew by one per cent.

HP recently released new printing technology it says can reduce customers' energy output.

Amrita Choudhury, research analyst at Gartner, said spending from small businesses had driven the growth.

"With the growth in IT sector and overall consumer confidence, there has been a spur in IT spending including the small and midsize business and government sectors. Hence most print vendors reported good growth," she was quoted by the news provider as saying.
