Sinn Fein TD Aengus O Snodaigh has rejected claims that he broke his word in an agreement with a local charity.
Mr O Snodaigh was found to have spent €50,000 (£39,920) on ink cartridges in two years, but then agreed to donate the empty toners to the charity Jack & Jill, reports Herald.Ie.
However, the charity's chief Jonathan Irwin has argued that they have not heard from him, a claim that Mr O Snodaigh rejects.
Speaking to the newspaper, he said: "I have been told that the spent ink cartridges I return to the Houses of the Oireachtas are recycled for Temple Street Children's Hospital."
Mr O Snodaigh is not the only Sinn Fein member to have built up a costly printer ink bill, as the Belfast Telegraph recently reported that Pat Doherty, a Member of the Legislative Assembly , spent over £16,000 on printing.
Mr Doherty bought 185 ink cartridges, with one of his yearly bills reaching £11,726.

Firms can boost their green credentials by putting more thought into their use of ink cartridges, one expert has advised.
Speaking to Fresh Business Thinking, Richard Costin, managing director of Banner Business Services, has encouraged workers to check how long their document is prior to printing to ensure they are only using the number of pages required.
Mr Costin also advised staff to change the settings of their printers to guarantee that pages print on both sides.
Another way that firms can become greener is by keeping electronic versions of data, as opposed to hard copies, while emails should be used to invite people to events instead of printed hand-outs.
It appears that more companies now want to lower the impact on the environment, as the Office Depot Small Business Index has found that 72 per cent of small businesses are hoping to lower their footprint by reducing waste.
As well as this, 61 per cent are planning to purchase energy-efficient products.

British firms are losing money because of their sub-standard environmental practices, one specialist has claimed.
Many companies falsely believe that it is too expensive for them to stay green and reduce their energy costs, but Gregg Corbett, marketing director at Avery and founder of Green Office Week, believes that cash can be saved by being more mindful of energy use.
"The truth is, in a business with poor environmental practices, staff often leave personal computer monitors on, open windows when the heating is on and leave printers on overnight," Mr Corbett explained.
He also stated that the day-to-day actions of staff have a direct impact on an organisation's finances.
One firm that is aiming to boost its green credentials is Apex Acquisitions, which has introduced a new energy efficiency policy.
This move will see the recycling of ink cartridges encouraged across the business, while operating costs will also be reduced as part of the measure.

Printing has advanced significantly since its inception, with the number and variety of ink cartridges expanding across the globe.
While in previous years, printouts often suffered from poor detail and resolution, this has changed rapidly, as the quality of output has reached a higher level, with a range of different types of printer ink now available in the market.
In addition, alongside the introduction of computers and the internet, printing has become essential for many companies, while a number of students now word-process more work than they write.
The quality of handouts from organisations is also pivotal, as they must appear professional in order to leave a good impression on customers or investors.
With these factors in mind, a recent study from Xerox has proved particularly surprising, with the research finding that colour is often absent in classroom handouts.
The company discovered that seven in ten students within grades three-12 claimed that few or none of their printed worksheets include pictures, while 69 per cent stated that a minimal number of graphs or charts boasted colour.
Despite this, the students questioned noted that colour materials would be highly beneficial for their work, with 58 per cent noting that they would be able to learn more in science classes if materials were provided in colour.
The study was carried out online in the US on behalf of Xerox by Harris Interactive and the figures for age, sex, race, parental education and region were weighted in a bid to ensure that the overall sample was in line with America's overall population of eight to 18 year olds.
Leah Quesada, vice president of marketing at Enterprise Business Group, Xerox, suggested that, even with many budgets decreasing in the current economic climate, colour printing can be affordable.
"With the right tools in place, colour can be maximised in the classroom to the benefit of the students," Ms Quesada explained.
"There are affordable options like the new ColorQube 8900 Color Multifunction Printer, which creates documents inexpensively on a wide range of media, including recycled paper," she added.
Demonstrating the technology available in the printing market, Xerox has also introduced its Hybrid Colour Pricing Plan, which assesses the amount of colour used in a document and calculates the cost of the process.
Such measures are particularly important for companies in the current economic climate, as firms across the world will be looking to reduce operating costs in as many areas as possible, including printing.
Ryanair is one of the companies that has taken strides to lower its annual print spend. It has accomplished this by moving from A4 to the A5 format.
The airline requested its publisher Ink to reduce the costs of its 'Let's Go with Ryanair' magazine. While its volume has remained the same, the company has saved £412,000 by making the alteration.
Company representative Stephen McNamara said: "Ryanair and Ink have cut the page size of our award winning 'Let's Go with Ryanair' magazine in order to reduce its weight, as well as its paper and production costs, but we have sacrificed none of its 164 pages or its entertaining content."
The magazine will also double-up as an in-flight menu card, as well as offering articles on lifestyle, entertainment, destinations and travel.
Therefore, the move has yielded many benefits for Ryanair and indicates that people can save money on their printouts without actually lowering their volume.
Although the airline has focused primarily on changing the format of its paper, financial savings can also be made in other ways.
For example, companies can lower the cost of their printing by simply lowering their in-house font size, which will ensure that savings can be made without lowering output.

Small companies now want to use ink cartridges in greener ways, as more firms look to lower their impact on the environment, a study has suggested.
It was also found that 72 per cent of small businesses are looking to lower their carbon footprint by reducing waste, while 61 per cent are looking to buy energy-efficient products and 60 per cent are opting to buy recycled items, according to the Office Depot Small Business Index.
Ink was particularly put under the spotlight in the study, with 60 per cent of small companies wanting to make their ink and toner cartridges greener.
Yalmaz Saddiqui, chief green advocate at Office Depot, said: "Customers can look at purchasing energy-efficient lights and computers, remanufactured printer cartridges and a wide range of greener supplies that cost less than less-green alternatives."
The research follows the news that more than 600 schools, colleges and universities in America are currently taking part in RecyleMania.
The event will see institutions compete to reduce the quantity of waste they send to landfill.

The Drupa 2012 exhibition will take place in Germany next month, where a number of printing technologies will be showcased.
Ink users will see the latest innovations unveiled at the show, with Heidelberg set to be the primary exhibitor at the event. Its full portfolio of solutions will be on display, covering around 67,800 sq ft.
Uwe Galm, the technical manager for the Drupa presentation at Heidelberg, said: "Building such complete and integrated print shops would normally take longer than half a year."
The Heidelberg team will consist of nearly 200 service engineers, booth builders, electricians and lighting audio engineers, while roughly 2,000 metric tonnes of material will be brought to the firm's booth.
In recent weeks, HP announced that it is to develop a new range of lightweight paper, entitled HP Paper Thin.
The firm has claimed that the paper will reduce the environmental effects of printing and storage by 22 per cent.

Tablet devices are growing in popularity and will soon overtake sales of personal computers, according to reports.
As users want to replace their main computer, it is important to invest in a device which meets all of the consumer's needs, including printing.
One of the best tablets for printing from is the iPad, which makes use of Apple's AirPrint wireless technology.
This software is supported by most new printers, according to PC Advisor, and negates the need for a USB connection.
Only certain applications can be printed from, including Photos, iWork and Safari.
PC Advisor also noted that Google's Cloud Print service is a useful tool for tablet users, particularly those who are using Android-based systems.
This means that instead of sending data from a tablet to a printer, the information will be wired to Google's server first where it is then sent to the copier.
With the popularity of the cloud growing, wireless printing is becoming more and more popular, particularly among tablet and mobile phones users who need access to hard copies of documents on the run.

Sinn Fein MLA Pat Doherty has generated a printing bill of more than £16,000, after using a large number of ink cartridges in recent years.
A total of 185 cartridges were purchased by the West Tyrone member in the time period, as the bill for one year has reached £11,726, with his party conceding that the costs have to be reduced, reports the Belfast Telegraph.
The Irish News has listed the top 20 printer ink users in the country and Sinn Fein members are in nine of the spots.
Overall, Assembly members have spent almost £250,000 on printer toner in less than three years, with Sinn Fein using the most of the equipment.
The importance of exploring the cost of ink before selecting a printer was recently highlighted by PC Advisor, which has advised people to compare cartridge prices and longevity before committing to a model, while factors such as connectivity and paper loading are also important.

A project in North Wales is aiming to encourage town councils to adopt more green measures.
The Strong Roots initiative is working alongside authorities in the region to persuade people to monitor their use of ink cartridges and save energy in other ways, including car sharing, reports DPWWest.
Rhodri Thomas, research development officer for Sustain Wales, which is supporting the scheme, told the news provider: "We want town and community councils to adopt sustainable development and actively support others in the community who are doing things."
Mr Thomas remarked that training has been delivered to 73 councillors from around 50 different councils at 14 training sessions throughout Wales.
A number of ink recycling initiatives have also been organised in the US, including Recyclemania, with more than 600 schools, colleges and universities taking part.
The programme began on March 31st and will last for eight weeks, with schools competing to decrease the amount of waste they send to landfill.

It is best for people who are looking for new ink cartridges to shop around, a specialist has urged.
This is especially important for people who purchase ink from the same brand as their printer, as consumer rights organisation Which? has found that people can end up paying up to twice as much for a cartridge, depending on where they buy from.
A representative from the group advised: "Using printer ink from a brand that's different from your printer - non-OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or third party - is an option, as these can sometimes work out cheaper."
The spokesperson also recommended that changing fonts and their size can have an impact on running costs.
In recent weeks, Peterborough Today reported that the benefits of environmentally-friendly ink and toner cartridges have been highlighted by the Speed creative agency.
The group has offered audits to local companies, advising them on how they can decrease their printing bill.
