Problem: The cartridge doesn't print.
Possible cause & fix:
The blue tape that covers the print nozzle might be still there. Remove the blue tape and try again. If the problem still persists, blot the cartridge on a damp paper towel until you see the ink.
Some of our cartridges don`t use sealing tape, so be careful not to actually peel the print head from the cartridge - All our sealing tape is blue.
Problem: I see smeared print or the print lines are broken or the cartridge prints very light (for a cartridge with printhead).
Possible cause & fix:
The ink may not be coming out of some nozzles properly. Blot the cartridge on a damp paper towel until you see some ink and then try printing again. If the cartridge still doesn't print well, go to the properties of your printer. Click on Maintenance or Services tab, if available and go through the "Clean Print Cartridges" procedure. As a next step, print either the black cartridge test page or the color cartridge test page using 'high print quality' setting. Change to standard or normal print quality and print another page. If this doesn't fix the problem, contact the support team for a replacement on 0800 612 0874 .
Problem: My printer says the cartridge is empty even though I just installed it.
Possible cause & fix:
Most of the times, if you ignore the warning and proceed with printing, the settings get corrected on their own, but if it refuses to print then here's what to do... Try installing the cartridge again making sure your computer and printer are both on (power turned on). Change the cartridge on the printer by taking it out, and then putting it back in. Close the cover, or press the button on your printer that tells it to return to normal. The printer control program should come up. If it doesn't, you may have to search around somewhere in your printer utilities and try to find where the "Install New Cartridge" option is. When you find it, open the printer utilities and select "Install/Change cartridge". (Go through the steps described in this printer function)
This approach will tell the software that a new cartridge has been inserted and force it to reset the internal page counter to zero.
Problem: My printer doesn't recognize the cartridge.
Possible cause & fix:
Check the printer manual to see whether you installed the correct cartridge or not. If it is the correct one, try to print ignoring the warning messages. It should work.
Problem: I installed both the colour and black new cartridges. What I see on my print is ugly, messy dark pictures. It looks like the print lines overlapped and the colours are confusing.
Possible cause & fix:
Check whether you installed the cartridges in the right slots. We have seen this problem when the customers accidentally switch the cartridges while installing. Re-install the cartridges in the correct slots and you should get the perfect prints. This check is necessary with some printers that have colour coding only for cartridges since the remanufactured cartridges may have different colour tops.
Problem: I see leaked ink in the packet.
Possible cause & fix:
Very rarely, a little ink might leak out for different reasons. Wipe the cartridge surface and blot the nozzle on a damp cloth. The cartridge is ready for use. If it has leaked a lot then please contact our support team on 0800 612 0874 for a replacement cartridge.
Problem: My colour cartridge does not print one of the colours, is missing a colour, or prints very faint. How do I get it to work properly?
Possible cause & fix:
Sometimes, during transportation, the cartridge may have been laying on one side, causing the colours to mix, or the print head to dry out. This does happen with both original and compatible inks quite often. Allow the newly installed ink cartridge to rest for an hour whilst installed in the printer then try to print few pages using all the colours. This may allow for the missing colours to "kick in".
Problem: My ink cartridge printed one or two pages and then stopped printing.
Possible cause & fix:
The tape that covers the breathing hole was not removed. Be sure the breathing hole on the cartridge has been released usually by removing a small "rip strip" so that the cartridge has air supply then it can print.
Problem: My Compatible or Remanufactured Toner Cartridge is in the printer but won't print or prints light?
Possible cause & fix:
Most toners are provided with a removable strip (sealing tape) to protect the drum during shipping, be sure that this strip has been fully removed by pulling out the tab on one end (usually the right side) of the cartridge then insert the cartridge into the printer.
Problem: Sometimes an ink cartridge can have problems due to dirty printer. Dirty printers can create problems for both OEM and remanufactured cartridges.
Fix:
The answer is a clean printer. You will need cotton swabs, warm water, paper towels and a flash light. You need to get the cartridge carriage to move off the docking station and to the middle of the printer. Usually you need to turn the printer on and open the cover. Sometimes there is a cartridge button to push. With the carriage in the middle, unplug the printer - this keeps the carriage moving unexpectedly. Use a flashlight to see the docking station if needed.
Clean the rubber seats in the docking station with cotton swabs and warm water. The seats are usually square and match the size of the nozzle plate. If there is a wiper blade, it will be about a quarter inch long and just to the left of the docking station - clean it as well. Now remove the cartridge from the carriage. Soak a paper towel and then squeeze out the excess water. Fold it long ways several times until it is about 12 inches by 1 inch, several layers thick. With a handhold on each end of the towel, slide the towel back and forth as it goes under the carriage - some carriages can be lifted up slightly to make this process easier.
While the above tips give general guidelines, we suggest you to refer to your printer manual for specific maintenance instructions.

Problem: Kodak Ink Cartridge Not being detected by the printer
If the Kodak ESP printer ink cartridge is not being detected by the printer, follow the below procedure:
.jpg)
Once the Carbon Strip has been removed, re-insert the cartridge into the printer.
Please note: Ensure the chip on the cartridge is not touched by bare hand as this can cause damage
Note: If you have an older ESP model, DO NOT update your firmware via the Kodak website as this may stop our compatible inks being detected in your printer. More details on this firmware issue will be posted when we have further information.
Epson Cleaning Cartridge Instructions
Why do I need this guide? Installing and using ink cartridges is second nature for many people. As our cleaning cartridges are essentially ink cartridges filled with a specially formulated cleaning solution, installing them is identical to the installation of any ink cartridge. This guide is not aimed at those that have become accustomed to the installation and use of cartridges. This is by no means a technical guide, nor is it meant to be so. Instead, it is designed for the use of beginners, and hence is very simple, with few technical terms. This short checklist will hopefully act as guide to improve the chances of everything working first time. Due to the large range of ink jet printers on the market today it would be almost impossible to cover every detail of the specific print software supplied with every printer. As a result this guide is very general, and only addresses the most common errors and points of note in most printers. Installation and Use Note: This particular guide only applies to cleaning cartridges for Epson printers After time or long periods of disuse, your print heads can become blocked by dirt, grime and dried ink. This will often disrupt printing and you will notice a pronounced loss in quality. Using our cleaning cartridges you can safely flush away the blockages and, if done regularly, even prolong the life of your printhead. | | | | Types of cleaning cartridge available | Use the cleaning cartridge under the following circumstances: - White lines occur when printing documents or images
- Indistinction or broken lines occur in nozzle check pattern
- Ink does not come down during printing
- Printer is used again after a long period of disuse
- It is to be used before replacing normal ink cartridge
| | | | | | Sealing bag | Tissue paper | Firstly, download our "Cleaning Sheet". This is a PDF document specifically designed to maximise cleaning fluid usage for deep cleaning print heads and nozzles. | Download "Cleaning Sheet" Please note: We recommend that all cleaning cartridges are used in Epson printers due to the single head configuration. This will ensure that all nozzles are cleaned and your ink is not wasted. | - Take out the cleaning cartridge from the bag and tear off the yellow part of the sealing film.
- Install it in the way you would a new ink cartridge
- Clean 2 times following printer operation instructions.
- Print Pressit Clean Sheet twice. If there are no broken lines and pictures appear clear in nozzle pattern check or test printing pages then cleaning is finished.
- Repeat step 3 if broken lines or indistinction of pictures is still occurring
- If it is still not working, leave the cleaning cartridge in the printer for 12 hours, then turn the printer on and repeat step 3, if print head still cannot return to normal then it is already damaged and needs to be replaced
- Take out the cartridge after cleaning and install a new ink cartridge. Clean the print head twice and the printer is ready for use
- Wipe off the liquid from the cartridge with tissue paper and seal the liquid exit with sticky tape. Put the cleaning cartridge into the sealing bag with the liquid exit facing down. Seal the bag and return to the box for further use
 | | | Use sticky tape to seal the cartridge | Seal in bag | WARNING: Do not touch the chip with your bare hands Or cover chip with sticky tape when resealing. | Notes - Don't squeeze the cleaning cartridge after peeling off the yellow label, install the cartridge immediately.
- If you purchased the chipped cleaning cartridges, after installing, if the printer cannot recognise the cartridge, reinstall until it shows 'OK'. When the cartridge is installed, if the computer shows "this is not an Epson product", click Yes to continue.
- Seal the used cleaning cartridge with sticky tape to prevent the liquid from drying out
- Store the cleaning cartridge carefully to prevent the environment being polluted
- Take off the sticky tape before the cartridge is installed for another use
- To avoid damage to your printhead, do not expose to air for long periods of time
- The colour liquid in the cleaning cartridge is for testing only and not for normal printing
- One cleaning cartridge can be used at least ten times
If the cleaning cartridge is used following these instructions, no damage will be done to either the printhead or the printer | |
