I had read a range of reviews about the S21, the main negative point I picked up being 'excessive noise'. Nevertheless I did buy one some 6 months ago and although I don't need to use it frequently or for prolonged periods, I don't find the noise disturbing in any way. Much more important for me was to discover for myself that the printing quality - text and photographs - is excellent, including with your compatible inks. 10 out of 10 as far as I am concerned for this compact and neat machine.

I used my Epson Stylus S21 for exactly one year. I then received a message saying "your ink pads are at the end of their service life. Epson told me they do not sell them as consumables; I would have to have a service costing £25 + VAT. The printer cost £37. I will never buy another Epson. My previous printer was a Lexmark and lasted for 7 years without a service!!!
