By increasing their knowledge of the remanufactured ink cartridge market, businesses could be ensuring they make solid annual savings, it has been suggested.
An article on PRWeb has suggested that it may cost some colour laser printer owners more to replace the device's four toner cartridges than the amount they paid to buy the printer outright in the first place.
However, there are ways in which these costs can be reduced if individuals are keen to pursue alternative methods, such as opting for remanufactured ink cartridges.
The article stated: "Using remanufactured ink and toner cartridges will save consumers money.
"Consumers who replace ink and toner cartridges just once or twice annually can save hundreds of dollars, while consumers who replace their cartridges more frequently can realise annual savings in the thousands of dollars."
Meanwhile, it is additionally noted that using remanufactured ink cartridges will not void a printer's warranty and they will meet expected standards "as well as" branded printer ink.

Individuals purchasing the Epson Stylus Photo R2880 printer have been told to be on the ball when it comes to storing the black ink cartridge that is currently not being used.
It has been written for the TechReviewource that the photo printer comes with two types of regular black ink, which differ in terms of results depending on whether glossy or matte paper is being used.
However, as only one of the inks can be fitted to the printer at any given time, there is a danger of the other drying out and being unusable.
The reviewer for the news provider has suggested that buying some aluminium foil could prove profitable to enhance the lifespan of the ink cartridge.
"Epson says on its website that it can be stored for up to six months without the ink drying out or otherwise being compromised," the reviewer said.
"It's too bad they don't include some sort of holder to help keep it more air-tight, but perhaps wrapping it in aluminium foil would help prolong that and ensure it's quality, even for a short period of time."
Meanwhile, Simon Williams recently wrote for Printer Reviews that replacement ink cartridges for the Epson Stylus SX215 printer should be easy to find as they have animals on the packaging, rather than a person needing to locate a product number.

Purchasing replacement ink cartridges can become a time-consuming task because of the large selection stocked in many locations, but this may become easier with the Epson Stylus SX215 printer, it has been suggested.
Simon Williams has highlighted in a review of the model for Printer Reviews that the ink cartridges are fitted with an interesting feature which makes them easier to spot when positioned in a rack alongside other forms of printer ink.
He explained: "It's worth mentioning what a good idea it is to give each range of cartridges a big bold visual image like a bird or animal and to label the printer with the same picture.
"It's so much easier when shopping for replacements to look for a cheetah, hummingbird, rhino, monkey or other animals on the packaging, than to hunt for obscure part numbers."
However, Mr Williams added that one weakness is a lack of a maintenance button on the control panel, which would inform a user of when an ink cartridge needs replacing or that a basic print check should be run.
Meanwhile, the Epson Stylus Photo R2880 picked up an accolade in the Gear of the Year 2009 issue of Mac Life magazine.

Businesses wanting an inkjet printer that can compete with the costs typical of laser alternatives may have found their model in the shape of the Epson B-510DN.
Jon Jacobi and Melissa Riofrio have reviewed the model for PC World and concluded that it is competitive in terms of the speeds that prints are produced and costs of replacement ink cartridges.
"Pages virtually flew out of the B-510DN," according to the reviewers, with users able to expect that 14.7 plain-text pages can be produced by the device every minute.
Meanwhile, costs can be saved as each colour can be replaced as a single cartridge rather than a whole new colour ink needing to be bought when just one colour runs out.
Furthermore, all cartridges can be bought in high-yield forms, with one of two larger black ink cartridges being of the size to complete 8,000 pages.
Users can additionally benefit from an efficient design, which includes a front ink cartridge bay which makes it easier to replace cartridges when they are empty.
The Stylus S22, the SX125 and SX218 are other Epson printers that benefit from individual ink cartridges to help users save money.
