Your Reviews For The SX200 Printer So Far
The SX200 is good - up to a point - Its a little noisy and takes some time to get itself ready to print - Then the troubles set in.
1. Changing the cartdridges is a nightmare - since the instructions are obscurely hidden in the over technical and somewhat obscure software negotiations - I always forget how to do it and then forget how to get into the instructions as well - there is nothing instinctive about the process.
2. The ink monitor system has a mind of its own - and then takes yours over - IN that even if you have black ink left - it will refuse to print in grey scale if any one of the colours is low ( I believe ther is still 15% of ink left at this stage ). So even if all you want is plain text documents - you can not have it.
Mine has developed either a mechanical fault or a software problem that even Epsom can not solve - It only prints a small part of the top of the page and then ejects the paper. It is an intermitant fault - I waste a great deal of ink and paper and I think I will throw the printer out of the window soon.
Epson think the problem may be associated with non standard ink cartridges - I think they are wrong since it has worked from the first time I replaced the cartridges with Internet ink ones and that was about two or three months ago - The printer is less than a year old
From The Editor :- You are correct Doug. Compatible inks will not affect your printer in this way. My suggestion would be to update your printer drivers, try www.printer-driver.org
I have a I have propper ink and when its half full it says ink not recognisable.I have spent a fortune on ink because i though it was just using alot, but no its not using alot of ink the cartridge is half full and saying it is empty. I AM VERY ANNOYED WITH THIS PRODUCT. I am taking it back as i cant get it to recognise the ink.
I have not had the SX200 printer long and I do not make a lot of use of it but so far it has done what I have asked of it.Of course it is early days yet but whilst I agree it is noisy,(sounds like a bag of nails,) the time it takes to get going is much faster than my old Epson R300. If it should begin to give trouble I will return to the reviews and add further comment.
The Epson SX200 is by far the most annoying printer I have ever purchased! The print quality is fantastic, but I have went through 2 sets of ink in 2 days, because the print test page showed that the heads needed cleaning, After having to clean the heads repeatedly, 2 sets of ink are now empty! This printer is going straight in the bin, and I will be looking carefully at reviews before buying another printer in future.
I myself use the Epson Stylus SX200 and have loads of problems with the ink. It says it's empty when it is clearly half full as you can hear it when you shake it, then after keeping trying to charge the cartridge it then says that they are incompatible with the printer and you need to buy Epson cartiridges. If I was made of money, perhaps I would, but I'm not so I buy the compatible ones. I am going to try and update the driver as recommended in your comments and see if that helps. Thanks,
Originally around the £70 mark this printer now can be obtained for around £35.At that sort of money,it can be considered a throw away printer.I have now had two and both have performed within my expectations.Yes it is noisy loading and yes I have found that occasionally I have to clean the printheads.Reference the latter, at Internet Ink prices I do not find it a problem. If you are after a reasonably good printer at a decent price with individual ink cartridges.I have tried the best as the saying goes but for economy I always go back to Epson.
Extremely good workhorse. Sure a bit loud but so what. It goes on for ever printing, copying and scanning. It cost about £40 so it is a tremendous bargain. My first scanner cost a thousand quid!!!! I would buy another tomorrow if I needed it! Cheers,
I bought an SX200 recently and could not get the heads clean which gave horizontal stripes on photographs. Despite changing the cartridges twice, the problem remained and I returned it to Print cartridges for a refund (Cost £67). I then bought an SX200 from Comet (£37) and it worked fine for 2 weeks before reverting back to the same problem. This seems to be a fundamental problem in manufacture (made in China) so don't buy one if you want colour prints.
Good Day. I purchased my SX200 printer , I then read the reviews!! I then thought that I had made a poor choice and was very concerned, next time reviews first then purchase. But to my delight I have found all of the reported failings have not happened to me, In fact I would based on my experience I would unreservedly recommend the printer.
When installing your inks that I have been using now for a number of years the printer tells me that they are not Epson inks!! But as always the Printer has been happy to use them. Not wanting to sound to much of a Goody-Goody I must say that the service you provide has always been outstanding, I have only had one small problem with the inks some years back, made a call to a very nice lady who instantly sent replacements that very afternoon and I received them in Suffolk in the following mornings post.
Now I need to make an order, many thanks again,
