Epson Ink Cartridge Quick Links
Epson now has many different inks available - details below.
Many people believe they get the best prints from a photo lab and that ink jet
prints arent as good. Although this may have been the case, it is no longer
true due to incredible advancements in ink jet printing technology.
The latest Epson advance in this arena is Claria photographic ink technology.
This has been introduced into a series of new printers
Claria Photographic ink
Many printers claim to be photo printers but Epson really delivers with this
new range of printers. The combination of Claria photographic ink and
compatible photo paper delivers images with the clarity, sharpness and
detail not found anywhere else - not even from a photo lab.
Claria photographic ink also produces great results on other types of
documents from letters to web pages.
This document gives you more details about the benefits of Claria
photographic ink and how it delivers such high quality photographs.

Premium Quality photo printing
Photographs printed with Claria photographic inks are rich, deep and the
highest quality even better than traditional photolab prints.
Superior glossiness
Claria photographic ink provides superior glossiness to the photos, especially
when printing on Epson Ultra Glossy Photo Paper.
Improved black density
The black density with Claria photographic ink has been improved so you
can achieve great details and tonal gradations on your photographs.
We are dedicated to developing ink and paper technologies that will extend
the life of a photo print as long as possible. Now, we have made it possible
to produce photographs that are:
Long lasting
for up to 200 years. In combination with genuine Epson photo paper, Claria
photographic ink produces photographs that retain their beauty for up to 200
years when stored in an album.
Fade resistant
Photos will stay brighter for longer. Claria photographic prints are
comparable to photo lab prints. This is thanks to a stronger dye molecules
structure, making Claria photographic ink much more resistant to light and
ozone than conventional dye ink.
Water resistant
With Claria photographic ink and Epson photo paper your photos wont be
damaged by spilt water or wet hands.

Wide media selection
For decades, Epson has worked to improve inkjet photo-printing quality and
achieve the fade-resistance and long life offered by traditional silver halide
photo-printing technologies.
Now, with the introduction of Epson Claria photographic ink, the goal of
bright, vivid colour and long print life has been achieved. This means that
simply by using an Epson printer with Claria inks, virtually anyone can easily
produce professional-quality photo prints at home.
Claria Photographic ink
Two principle causes of fading are exposure to light and ozone.
Colours can fade when exposed to ordinary light, because light can weaken
or break the bonds that hold the atoms in the dye molecules together.
Those same bonds can also be destroyed by ozone and other oxidised
gases in the atmosphere.
Light and ozone break the bonds and cause fading
Molecules form a dense cluster less vulnerable to attack of ozone
More atoms, tightly bonded together making molecules stronger against light and ozone
Atomic Shields - protect molecules from ozone
Claria Photographic Ink overview
Why colours fade
With Claria photographic ink, the dye molecules contain more atoms, tightly
bonded together so the molecules can better resist the effects of light and
ozone. To make the molecules even stronger, they are protected by atomic
shields and aggregated into dense clusters.
Claria photographic ink
Dense clusters of stronger molecules fewer weak points allowing high light
and ozone resistance.
Less durable dye ink
Vulnerable to damage by light and ozone. Dye molecules get damaged
causing colour fading
The difference Claria photographic ink makes
Better than photo lab quality
The result is photo prints that retain their beauty under a wide range of
conditions.
