 Your Reviews So Far
My Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer - used for all photo work and anything else that needs to be A3 size. This is a superb printer and has not given me any trouble at all. Have tried various third party inks but found none of them are quite up to Epson ink cartridges in print quality and I am ensure of print life with these. I therefore stick to Epson K3 inks which are superb if rather pricey. I am a keen amateur photographer so quality of prints and longevity are vital.
I’ve owned my R2400 for 6 months. I use a laser printer for everyday use but bought the R2400 for my photographic work. When it works properly it makes awesome prints, but as with all inkjets it suffers from printhead bloackage. Never a week goes by when I’m not playing about with it trying to unblock the heads. This is also very wasteful on ink. My verdict is use an online lab for your prints because this machine is a money pit.
I have used Epson printers since the early 90’s and have to say that I have always been impressed with the actual print quality. My most recent purchase was the R2400, mainly because I am a graphite artist and need the ability to produce A3+ size prints. The Grayscale of this printer is fantastic - neutral in all areas. If you take the trouble to set all your colour management options correctly, i.e. in the editing software and use the correct printer profile and paper, you will get spectacular results. Just recently, I have been doing some prints on Epson’s Premier Canvas - again the quality is superb. You do need to spend that extra time setting things up though and remember that you will never achieve the exact same colors on paper as you do on screen. I’ve not suffered from print head blockages, even when returning from a 2 week break, the print-head remains clear. The only thing that let’s the printer down, as with all inkjets, is the price of the cartridges which I buy from Internet-Ink.co.uk (not had any problems with them at all.) I also still have an R800 and found this to be very inefficient with ink, about 10 pages of A4 size full print is about the most you will get (magenta runs down very quickly!) The R2400 is probably double that performance. Perhaps because the initial outlay is higher.
Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer - excellent results in all modes
