Canon Pixma IP4300. Best printer I`ve ever had. I am just a home user, so that`s the angle I`m coming from. However, the print speed is excellent & the ease of double sided printing great. Pictures are produced rapidly with excellent colours. As there are 5 separate ink tanks, costs are kept down, but also there are a lot of pages produced per tank.
Started with an HP, followed by countless Epsons. Epson lost edge, now have Canon Pixma ip4300. Best printer in the world. Fantastic quality, especially for photos, inks go on for ever, no problems whatsoever.
Sirs Having spent most of my life as a proffesional Photographer in the "Red Light" and Green light areas.I am now a dedicated Digital man with a new Pentax and a couple of lenses. My first Canon printer was an i560 not used very much the results were very satifactory but the machine started going all wrong., poor colour smudging, while I was printing a friends wedding. Solution GO OUT and buy a new one a Canon Pixma IP4300 specification looked right and the results have been very good I only hope it does not fall to bits like the last one!! I am starting to to take some Photographic jobs again and do not need a dark room and all the chemicals. Regards John Anderson
Canon Pixma IP4300 - Absolutely fabulous printer but the fact that it doesnt come with a usb lead sucks. Also another point is that the instructions are poor and Canons customer service is non-existent. I have two of these as they are so good but it is only that fact that helps Canon keep in the market place if you ask me. Hope this helps anyone buying one DG
Canon Pixma inkjet IP43000. This is my 2nd Canon Printer a replacement for an IP4000 which performed so well I decided to upgrade to IP4300. Both printers werew used for photographic work and the individual ink cartridges were attractive as black lasts a lo longer than coloured ones. I am disappointed at the trouble I have replacing the chip to use compatible ink cartridges with IP4300 and the excessive precautions Canon have in place to force use of their own ink cartridges which are far too expensive for home use. Compatible ink cartridges for IP 4000 came in at 1 per colour (5 for full set). With the Canon IP4300 ink cartridges it cost 2:50 per ink and added to irritation of transferring chip is a downer. I no longer recommend the Canon IP4300 as a cheap to run printer: there is no obvious advantage or improvement in performance and the pretty lights on ink jet carriage only work with Canon ink cartridges. Both printers come with installation disc whic contains tremendous simple to use Photo Editing Printing Programmes - Easy photoprint and label print programmes:the later being ideal for direct printing onto printable CDs etc. I would give the Canon IP4300 10 out of 10 and because, of the irritations associated with changing ink cartridges and cost, I rate the Canon IP4300 7 out of 10 Regards Patrick
FROM THE EDITOR :- I know changing the chips is a pain, but better than paying 50 a set for Canon original ink cartridges
Hi, I have a Cannon Pixma iP 4300 it is quiet, fast and economical comparing it to the HP Photosmart 7550 which I bought before I had a computer. If I require a better quality of printed photo I will use the HP printer. Michael Eato.
Your link to the above address does not work, but lets hope this reaches you. I have a Canon PIXMA iP 4300 ink-jet printer, cost 63.27 from Amazon in 2007. Canon ink cartridges are expensive, but contain a lot of ink. Internet-ink cartridges work well, but produce a barrage of warnings from the Canon program, including the requirement that the user agrees to forfeit all right to claim for repairs/replacement to the printer, and the information that this forfeit is recorded within the printer. The chip on the Canon cartridge is well secured, and the tool provided by Internet Ink is effective only with the application of a great deal of force. A craft knife is more effective. The instructions for removing the chip are not clear, mainly because the picture is of poor quality: a larger-scale diagram that emphasises the plastic studs to be cut out would be better. On one occasion when I was changing the cartridge, I took so long that the printer tried to retrieve the cartridge-holders to the park position whilst a holder lid was still open. I recommend disconnecting the mains lead from the printer as soon as the cartridge-holders stop in the ink-changing position, then re-connecting the lead when the changeover is completed. the PIXMA iP 4300 is a superb printer. The amount of ink used can be controlled by setting different printing speeds, the fastest speed giving text which is just comfortably readable. Paper feed is from either a bottom tray or a conventional top tray. When printing from the bottom tray it is possible to do duplex printing to produce back-to-back prints in correct page order. The provided software enables printing on Avery-numbered labels using Microsoft Word (the same wording on each label). It is likely that Microsoft Access will allow the printing of a set of addresses on Avery labels, but I havent tried this. It works, with some adjustment, using an old Lotus Approach data base.

I bought this Canon ip4300 printer a few months ago after using the excellent canon i950, from the same manufacturer. The ip4300 is a delight to use, being quite quick, without rattling around as a previous Epson Stylus did, and producing very good colour. The black text is almost laser quality, using as it does a pigment black, and not dye. Also, the printing direct to CD/DVD facility is a great bonus, obviating the need to use sticky labels! Canon include in their software a CD-LabelPrint program which is very straightforward to use. I am amazed at the high quality of the results I am getting. Photo quality is very good indeed and Canon claim colour stability for years to come. Whether or not they will last without storage in a dark place, only time will tell I personally think that the printer is a bit greedy on ink, and blanch at the exorbitant cost of Canon cartridges. It just about cleans itself dry with the amount of self-cleaning it does! Canon seem to be doing everything they can to force their customers to buy their "ink tanks", though, so the temptation to move to compatibles is great. The only qualm I have is the fear that, in buying them, I shall be putting dubious Chinese inks through the printhead, running the danger of clogging. I think that we should all find a supplier of top quality compatibles, who use Euro or American inks and use them, regardless of what Canon tells us to do. Apart from the ink cost issue, this seems to be a fine printer and I hope it lasts as long as the Canon i950, which is still going strong after six years of use. Ron Stephenson
only had the Canon ip4300 printer 7 months and printhead faulty already. the blue fine screen has lies running through it and no amount of cleaning makes any improvement
I absolutely hate my Canon IP4300! It is steam-driven as it takes an age to print-off the first page of any document. The ink cartridges are extremely expensive and do not last. Although compatible cartridges are available (using the chip from the original Canon cartridge) they do not work as the original cartridge has one wider plastic nodule to affix the chip and the compatibles do not, therefore, disaster! I would never buy this printer again. The quality of the printing isnt that great either. Marks out of ten - zero!
Excellent little printer for the money with one grumble - the rip off of Canons cartridges. I just do not believe that the difference in quality between their product and the compatibles is worth the more than double mark up. I think we are being conned by the relatively cheap cost of the printer and the very expensive cost of the cartridges.
