What a big mistake that was............When the first one went down I was stupid enough to get another one! Well, I thought Canon was a big name and tried one of theirs. A3 big pics very good and did a lot of posing with my images with my new Minolta. Yes here we go again, blocked up as regular as the M5 GOT SICK OF IT AND KICKED IT INTO TOUCH! Oh no, stupid got another one.........lovely pictures Canon I love you! Yes you guessed blocked up and no one can touch it only Canon engineers. Went to my local repair people and they told me that Canon would not let them have the disc to access any problems. Well it was still under guarantee so the man came round and said it’s had it.........saves him time messing about with it and they duly paid out as required. I checked the net and found Epson R800 and cursed the computer for not finding this supercallofragalistic (spelling rubbish) printer the first time! Epson stylus photo R800 the back up is just unbelievable................Geoff Lloyd Epson R800 Photo Brilliant performance and unmatched photo quality However, won’t print envelopes with Word 2007 under Vista despite all latest drivers and much help from Epson Europe - there again, as Epson pointed out, it is a Photo printer not office!! Firstly the ink, great value have not had many problems. Head clogging once and it did need a bit of shifting so cost me a lot of ink. Usually if clogged it is pretty quick and not much waste so I did not send a whining e-m to you! If you could possibly label the actual cartridge with the colour and the printers for what it can be used in would be absolutely brilliant! Printers......... started with a Lexmark and not fully computer literate........stopped working so got another ’cos I new how to work Lexmark’s.........DUMMY......ink too expensive........Hey! now I know a bit more about this computer biz! Checked on the net and got the latest singing and dancing Canon 2000 A3 printer! Great prints well happy but was clogging up to often........they gave me a new head.......still the same clogging. Out of guarantee, oh well I know how it works I will get another one..DUMMY......I complained and got a voucher for another printer! No DUMMY this time got my self a EPSON STYLUS PHOTO R800 lovely machine, fantastic back up on the net and if I need to take it for repair it will be local no postage etc. Regards Geoff Dear Sir Re; R800 Printer Firstly, I am extremely pleased with my Epson R800 Photo Printer purchased about a year ago, the quality of photos are excellent. I am a member of our local Camera Club and submit prints each month in local and inter-county print competitions. These are judged by prominent judges (with letters after their names) so therefore entries are heavily scrutinised. I have been using your inks for some while and so far my prints have not been criticised for not using genuine Epson inks, so I can only conclude that the quality of your inks are up to judgement standard. I do have a small problem that now the club is more or less digital photography projected images, the number of prints that I submit has reduced in number, therefore, the printer is not used as much and is prone to clogging. Do the inks I purchase have a shelf life even if they are unopened, also, how long can they be left in the printer without being used? I have ordered from yourselves the cleaning unit in hope it will help my situation, but would be grateful for any further comment you may have. I look forward to hearing from you soon. J. Wraight (Mr) FROM THE EDITOR :- Hello, all Epson printers will dry out if not used regularly. Our cleaning cartridges will restore the printer if you do allow it to dry out. This happens to both original & compatible ink cartridges. Dear Friends, Whilst the above printer, linked to my home computer, has performed perfectly well in normal printing tasks, it has failed miserably on photographic work due to the Epson driver being repeatedly disrupted by the Windows XP automatic updating procedures. In order to ensure good results it would be necessary to load up an appropriate driver everytime you use the computer in case an update has corrupted the previous driver settings. For that reason I have wasted ink and photographic paper in significant quantities since purchasing the printer and now only use it for basic printing tasks which a printer costing one third the price could easily perform. Epson have not been able to offer a solution to this problem. Hope this is of some interest to you. Kind regards, David.
