This review is about the iP4600 printer, and not internet-ink. I am disappointed by this printer for two reasons. The first is that I find it is slower than my i560 printer. However, the print quality and photo printer is better, and I like the iP4600 duplex printing mode. The second reason is this printer far less economical on ink than the i560. The cartridges, whether Canon original or compatible, are more expensive and have less ink making the iP4600 an expensive printer to run. In all fairness, I would find it difficult to recommend the iP4600 to anyone.Best Wishes,Richard Houston

I have no other printer for comparison, but I find the print quality excellent, both coloured and black and white. I use it mainly for B&W script and use the extra large black ink cartridges for economy. I do not wish for a better printer.

Great quality prints, as you'd expect from Canon. Great CD print function. Too much ink wasted in cleaning cycle every time the printer is switched on, hence I tend to wait until I have several things to print to save the costly (as usual) ink. 6/10 (because of the amount of wasted ink. Otherwise it could have been 9/10).

What I would like to tell Canon more than to you even, is, that their pixma IP 4000 was far superior to the 4600 model I have now. My reasons: though they essentially share the same features, the 4600 has a number of software hiccups and driver indigestion seems to occur regularly with Windows. The cartridges are much smaller and even more expensive, though they weren't cheap for the 4000 either.
If it weren't for your compatibles, I wouldn't be able to use these printers at all! Having said what I don't like, these printers are the best for my needs of any I have worked with - I particularly like the CD printing feature since I like designing my own covers all in and it allows me to produce the designs in the best form available. The print quality is generally excellent, even with compatibles, and it is possible to use them without having to circumvent the chipped security feature of the original cartridges for many new printers.
It does duplexing even in A5, and picks up a wide range of weights in paper (though the 4600, again, doesn't seem as robust as the 4000). All in all, I recommend these models, though sadly they have gone out of production. It is one of the symptoms of the insanity of the consumer economy that perfectly good and admirable product designs give way for inferior ones in the name of the chimaeras of infinite progress and ever increasing profit!

An excellent printer. It has a duplexer and can print directly onto CDs/DVDs. Photo quality is very good, and it is reasonably quick, but it is quite heavy on ink. Genuine cartridges are expensive, but compatibles are almost as good at a quarter of the price.
